Robert Young was born on April 30, 1940, in Corona, Queens, New York. He was raised by his parents, Josephine and Michael DeLouise, who worked as a high school shop teacher. Young, who had Italian heritage, received his training from Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio. From 1957 to 1959, Young served in the United States Marine Corps, where he actively participated in boxing and achieved an impressive record of winning 32 out of 34 bouts.
Young gained recognition for his portrayal of rough-edged, working-class Italian-American characters. His most notable role was as Paulie, Rocky Balboa’s friend and future brother-in-law, in the 1976 film Rocky. This performance earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Young is one of the four actors, alongside Sylvester Stallone, Stu Nahan, and Tony Burton, who appeared in all six Rocky films.

Burt Young passed away at the age of 83 years old. It was not immediately clear what caused his death. The New York Times reports that Young passed away in Los Angeles on October 8.
“Burt was an actor of tremendous emotional range,” his manager Lynda Bensky said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. “He could make you cry and he could scare you to death.”
Bensky added, “But the real pathos that I experienced was the poignancy of his soul. That’s where it came from.”
