Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly seem to revel in being provocative, and the celebrity couple again pushed buttons over Halloween weekend.
The Jennifer's Body actor and her musician fiancé first ruffled feathers on Friday while emulating another former Hollywood "it" couple: Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. But some Christians cried "blasphemy" after Fox and Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, dressed up as a naughty parishioner and a Catholic priest, respectively.
Fox posted photos of the pair's religion-inspired get-up to her Instagram page on Sunday.
"On Sundays we take communion," she wrote, along with prayer and rosary bead emojis.
In the pictures, Kelly is dressed in a black Catholic priest's robe and Fox wears what looks like latex lingerie and fishnet stockings. A short video also shows Fox on her knees, with her mouth open and tongue out, as she receives a Communion wafer from her beau.
The couple's costumes drew significant blowback and appeared to shock many users, including Christians.
"Notice how Christianity is the only religion that is openly mocked and people find it comical?? Hmm," one Instagram user wrote in response.
Someone else replied: "Unacceptable. No one should ever mock someone else's religion."
"This is just distasteful and I'm an atheist," another user clapped back.
"I'm not catholic but this is so WRONG AND SO MANY WAYS making fun of religion," one person wrote. "Respect required respect so you guys lost mine . Respect the Bible !!!!"
Yet another Instagram user added: "I'd like to think that I am a progressive, open minded person but this makes me a little sad about Megan, was expecting better I guess, but that's just my opinion. To each their own I guess. They did achieve the shock factor they were clearly aiming for."
Last Friday, the couple had also dressed as Anderson of Baywatch fame and Mötley Crüe drummer Lee. A video posted to Kelly's Instagram shows him snorting and then licking a white powdery substance (presumably fake cocaine) off Fox's breast, drawing considerable backlash.
"Not cool with the snorting and having teens idol you," one critic wrote in response.
Fox and Kelly have upset Catholics with their antics before.
The attention-grabbing couple got engaged this past January after dating for around a year and a half. Video of the proposal posted to Instagram included a caption wherein Fox claimed that the two had drunk one another's blood.
Afterward, a priest from Argentina slammed the pair for their blood curiosity, reportedly saying: "Vampirism is something that should be addressed by an exorcist."
Kelly also raised eyebrows after he equipped Fox's custom emerald-and-diamond engagement ring with thorns, making it hurt to remove.
