On November 25, 1998, Jaylen Waddle was given birth to by his devoted mother, Iesha Redmon, in the city of Bellaire, Texas, in the United States. Amber Allen and Aspean Redmon are two of his three older sisters while the name of his third sister isn’t disclosed. He participated in the United States Army All-American Game as a senior. It was at this point that he decided to commit to the University of Alabama to play college football. He made his decision on National Signing Day in 2018, and he chose Alabama over the likes of Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State, TCU, and Oregon, among others.
Waddle was voted SEC Freshman of the Year in 2018 as a true freshman at Alabama after racking up 45 receptions for 848 yards and seven touchdowns as a true freshman. He also had 16 punt returns for 233 yards and a touchdown in his career as a punt returner. During the 2019 season, Waddle returned to the Crimson Tide for his sophomore campaign. He hauled in 33 receptions for 560 yards and six receiving touchdowns during his career. The SEC named him to the first team as a return specialist, and he was voted Special Teams Player of the Year in the conference.
