San Diego police have recovered the decomposing body of a 14-year-old girl who went missing with her 12-year-old friend earlier this month.
The victim, Anna Hernandez, was shot according to San Diego Police Department.
The youngster's body was recovered from a canyon behind an apartment complex in Market Street.

SDPD Lieutenant Mike Hastings told KTLA Ms Hernandez was beaten and shot a number of times in the upper chest.
Her body was wrapped in a blanket.
Friends and relatives have erected a make-shift shrine near the site where the youngster's body was dumped.
A close friend Karla Chavez said: 'I can’t believe this is real, she was only 14.'
Both girls were last seen on November 13.
