Rick from Pawn Stars’ son, Adam Harrison, died on January 29. The cause of death has now been revealed a month after the shop owner paid tribute, on the same day Rick launched an app.
Adam Harrison did not appear on Pawn Stars as a cast member but he did work in the store his father owned. At the time of Adam’s death, he was working as a plumber, but he usually kept out the public eye.
Adam Harrison’s cause of death
Harrison, 39, died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl and methamphetamine, the Clark County Coroners Office confirmed to TMZ. The 39-year-old died on 19 January in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Initially, Harrison’s family spokesperson, Laura Herlovich, told People Adam’s death was due to a fentanyl overdose. It has now been confirmed that he died from fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity.
A Clark County, Nevada, public information officer shared the cause of death update on March 1, while the county’s coroner/medical examiner ruled his death an accident.
Pawn Stars: Rick pays tribute to son
Rick Harrison posted a picture of himself with Adam on Instagram with the caption, “You will always be in my heart! I love you Adam,” while the family said they are “extremely saddened by Adam’s death”.
“We ask for privacy as we grieve his loss,” they wrote. Corey Harrison, Rick’s other son who appears on Pawn Stars, also put up a tribute post to his brother, with a childhood picture of them both from 1988.
He captioned it: “I will always love you bubba”. Harrison, who also had another brother named Jake, was paid tribute to by Donald Trump Jr, who wrote under the tribute, “I’m so sorry man”.
Rick speaks out on US crisis
On January 22, Harrison, through his rep, told TMZ the US is in a crisis that “must be taken more seriously”. He said, “Yes, I can confirm Adam died from a fentanyl overdose.”
Rick added, “The fentanyl crisis in this country must be taken more seriously. It seems it is just flowing over the borders and nothing is being done about it. We must do better.”
Days after his son’s death, he shared old photos of Adam’s childhood. The photos showed Adam on Rick’s shoulders, as well as a snap of Adam cuddling his father as a toddler.
