Much ado about nothing? Scott Eastwood said he didn’t notice that his costars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel were reportedly feuding on set of Fast 8.
“I had a great time working on the film,” the 30-year-old actor (and son of Clint Eastwood) told Entertainment Tonight. “I don’t know anything about that stuff.”
Eastwood described the set as a big backyard party for the cast, which also includes Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris. “We had barbecues, like, every day on set. Tyrese would put on barbecues for everybody,” he said. “We’d go run out and shoot a scene and come back and listen to music and eat grilled chicken.”
As previously reported, the former professional wrestler, 44, started a firestorm when he posted a cryptic rant on Instagram earlier this month calling an unnamed male Fast 8 costar a “chickens–t” and “candy ass” who was allegedly unprofessional on set. While he didn’t specify the target of his rant, TMZ reported that the Baywatch star had a problem with Diesel, 49.
The XXX actor then seemingly responded by posting an Instagram video explaining that he’s so happy to be home after wrapping two back-to-back films that he both starred in and produced. “So give me a second and I will tell you everything. Everything,” he said in the clip, promising to reveal more once Fast 8 is complete.
Johnson may have subtly shaded Diesel again several days later when he made another Instagram post thanking the cast and crew for their hard work on the eighth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. However, he noticeably omitted any mention of the Last Witch Hunter star. “Thank you UNIVERSAL for being tremendous partners as always, thank you to all my fellow co-stars for the daily effort and grind,” he wrote. “Scott Eastwood you handsome sumbitch! Natalie Emmanuel I have a cold Budweiser ready for you and Tyrese Gibson you still have the biggest smile and forehead I’ve ever seen.”
Then Diesel hinted the men might have made up when he praised the Rock in a Facebook video on August 19. “The reason we brought Dwayne Johnson into Fast 5 was because of you!” he said. “There was a [fan] named Jan Kelly who said, ‘I would love to see you guys work together on screen.’ So we gave the role that was originally written for Tommy Lee Jones, we gave it to Dwayne and he shined in it.”
